SASSA social grant payments issues resolved – beneficiaries can now withdraw

“Postbank apologises to our SASSA social grant beneficiaries for the inconvenience caused due to these system challenges. We know that social grants are important to the livelihood of the most vulnerable in our community and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience experienced during the system glitch.”

The system fault that affected SASSA social grant payments, according to state-owned bank Postbank, has been fixed.

Many SASSA social grant beneficiaries were unable to swipe or withdraw money from ATMs on the day of their payments.

Postbank reported that the system fault that affected payments has been fixed, allowing all SASSA social grants recipients using SASSA gold cards can now receive their grant funds at ATMs and merchants nationwide.

The recipients of social grants have been instructed by Postbank to proceed with their withdrawals at any ATMs and retail locations around the country that offer the cashback feature, including Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick & Pay, and Boxer.

As the SASSA gold card operates completely within the national payments system similarly to any other bank card, recipients of SASSA grants can use the gold cards to make purchases at any location that accepts bank card transactions.

On Monday, November 7, Postbank stated it would monitor system performance in Post Office branches and notify beneficiaries of any changes.
