Following the discovery of salmonella in some of the packs, a state department of health has ordered the recall of two types of packed dried mushrooms distributed all throughout the country.
The Maryland Department of Health found salmonella in some of the packages of Three Golden Coins Dried Mushrooms it bought at a retail outlet for regular testing, prompting the manufacturer Tai Phat Wholesalers, which manufactures the possibly contaminated product, to issue the recall.
The recalled dried mushrooms may be purchased whole or sliced, and they come in two distinct packaging sizes. They were supplied to specialty retail outlets in 15 different states of the United States. Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are the states where they were sold.
While the situation is being looked into, all product sales have been halted. Three Golden Coins dry mushrooms should be returned to the vendor for a complete refund, according to consumers who have bought them.
According to the release, no customers have yet reported getting sick after drinking the product.
Children, the elderly, and those who are otherwise frail or have compromised immune systems are all susceptible to severe sickness, and in the worst cases, death, from salmonella. Healthy persons who get an infection may have fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach discomfort. Occasionally, the infection might cause a more serious sickness.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that each year in the United States, salmonella germs cause 1.35 million illnesses and 420 fatalities.
