A man intoxicated on magic mushrooms broke a United Airlines flight’s lavatory door and attacked a flight attendant

According to an affidavit obtained by Insider, a guy was arrested after being accused of smashing the toilet door and attacking flight attendants while under the influence of magic mushrooms.

The event occurred on a United Airlines flight from Miami, Florida to Washington, DC on Tuesday, October 4th. According to the affidavit, which referenced “victims, witnesses, and passenger camera footage,” Cherruy Loghan Sevilla displayed “disturbing” and “uncontrolled behavior” approximately one hour into the trip.

According to the statement of probable cause from FBI Special Agent Daniel Markley, Sevilla is accused of unlocking the aircraft bathroom door while another passenger was inside and breaking “a little plastic piece” off of it. He strolled throughout the aircraft, invading the personal space of other passengers, and “clapped loudly near the cockpit and yelled profanities.”

According to the affidavit, after flight attendants attempted to make Sevilla sit down, he began to have an outburst and lied down on the plane’s floor. When a flight attendant instructed Sevilla to take a seat, he attacked her by grabbing and twisting her right breast.

According to the affidavit, other flight attendants and a law enforcement officer attempted to restrain him, but he resisted. During this moment, Sevilla is also accused of manipulating another steward. He was ultimately restrained and monitored for the duration of the journey.

Upon landing at Dulles International Airport, Sevilla was escorted to the FBI headquarters, according to the affidavit. Later, he disclosed to an agent that he had ingested psilocybin prior to boarding and remembered being disruptive on the aircraft. The document revealed that this was not his first time consuming magic mushrooms, and he expressed regret for his actions.

In a statement to NBC News, United Airlines praised their personnel for handling the incident professionally.

“We also checked with our crew members to make sure they were okay,” the airline said.
