Roger Federer praises “incredible once more” Novak Djokovic

Roger Federer praised Novak Djokovic’s “incredible effort” after winning a record-tying 22nd Grand Slam title and 10th Australian Open on Sunday.

“Outstanding effort yet again!” The retired Federer, who won 20 major titles, posted a simple message of congrats on Instagram.

Djokovic overcame Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets earlier on Sunday to add a second Australian Open title to his seven Wimbledon, three US Open, and two French Open titles.

At 35 years old, Novak Djokovic is a year younger than the defending champion in Melbourne, Rafael Nadal.

Nadal was eliminated in the second round and will miss up to eight weeks due to a hip issue.

Federer, the former world number one, retired last year at age 41 due to a knee ailment from which he was unable to recover.
