Robin Simcox confirmed in substantive role

Today, the Home Office officially endorsed Robin Simcox’s appointment as the substantive Commissioner for Countering Extremism (CCE).

Three years will make up the length of his term.

In March 2021, Robin received his initial appointment as an interim commissioner.

The Home Secretary has approved Robin’s appointment following a fierce open competition for the substantive position.

Priti Patel, the home secretary, said:

The substantive Commissioner position Robin Simcox is assuming at the CCE benefits greatly from his extensive experience and expertise in the field of countering extremism.

His vast knowledge will contribute to deepening our comprehension of a variety of beliefs and actions, combating extremism that has no place in our society.

Commissioner for Countering Extremism Robin Simcox stated:

Being named the actual Commissioner for Countering Extremism is an honour. In the face of radical ideologies, our core values must be vehemently upheld.

By examining how the government and larger society are responding to extremism, the CCE will aid in improving how sophisticated our response is.

The CCE is a Home Office non-statutory expert committee that advises the government and outside partners on new policies to address these threats and supports society in its fight against all forms of extremism.
