Robin Roberts, a Good Morning America anchor who works with T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, is “furious” over the scandal, which she has described as “messy” and “tarnishing the brand.”
According to DailyMail.com, Roberts has complained to Disney, the parent company of ABC, about the network’s unimpressive response to the incident.
Roberts claims she advised Holmes and Robach to “chill out” when she first learned about the romance.
The network is currently weighing its response choices, and according to sources, one option could spark a racial firestorm despite Holmes’ alleged history as a “serial cheater.”
“Relinquishing the black man while retaining the white woman? It appears to be the worst kind of double standard,” a source added.
Despite early assertions that they were “openly dating” and “committed to grow their romance,” Holmes and Robach were removed off the air last Friday and have not been seen together since.
Robach has separated from her spouse of 12 years, actor Andrew Shue, while Holmes has been booted to the curb by his wife of 12 years, attorney Marilee Fiebig.
Since News President Kim Godwin made the decision to pull Holmes and Robach from the air, the network appears to be stuck, with sources telling DailyMail.com that workers are bewildered and in the dark.
According to an insider, Godwin is “busy ensuring her best interests are protected and is incapable of making any decisions.” She is very unreachable and spends much of her time in her office.”
