Rob Schneider thinks Trump’s election and Clinton’s defeat made SNL more political

Rob Schneider, an actor and comedian, claims that the 47-year-old comedy programme Saturday Night Live has become more politically aware as a result of Donald Trump’s victory and Hillary Clinton’s defeat in the 2016 presidential election.

With the first episode airing only four days after Clinton’s tragic defeat, it seemed to happen nearly immediately after her fall.

It hurts Schneider to be critical of his alma school; he was recruited as a writer at SNL in 1988 and quickly advanced to full cast member in 1990, where he stayed for four years until 1994.

He claims, however, that he can point to a precise moment in time when the comedy programme eschewed humour in favour of making a point: it happened when Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton sat down at the piano and somberly sang Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.

McKinnon performed the late-well-known Cohen’s song on the piano in front of the studio audience while donning one of Clinton’s signature white pantsuits.

During some of the song’s most moving passages, the Emmy winner seemed obviously moved.

Glenn Beck of The Blaze was informed by Schneider that he hated to trash his former programme.

I pleaded with God, “Please, have a comedy at the end,” Schneider claimed to remember.

Avoid doing this. Don’t go down there, please. It was ended when there was no joke left to tell at the conclusion. It is done. It won’t make a comeback.

According to Schneider, the programme has effectively transitioned from humour to politics and is now “indoctrinating” viewers.

He also thinks that SNL is not the only offender and is critical of late-night comedy programmes in general, saying that hosts like Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel lack a “independent voice.”

“You can exchange the comedic indoctrination processes that are taking place with each of the late-night hosts.” That is how you can tell something is no longer interesting.

The Deuce Bigelow actor claimed that there is no longer a strong independent voice. Everything is brainwashing via humorous imposition.

Schneider, a well-known conservative politician, disapproved of Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of Donald Trump as well.

Since I already mentioned that I am aware of his political leanings, I don’t find his impression to be amusing because it eliminates any element of surprise. Nothing could possibly surprise you.

He stated in 2018: “He so obviously despises the character he’s playing.”
