Rickey Smiley disclosed on Sunday that his eldest son, Brandon, had passed away at the age of 32.
“I lost my oldest son #BrandonSmiley this morning,” the comedian captioned a weekend airport Instagram video with the hashtag #BrandonSmiley.
The 54-year-old actor said, “I’m fine, but please pray for my son’s mother Brenda, his siblings, and his daughter Storm.”
Smiley stated in the video that he was “on his way to… Birmingham” to attend his son’s funeral.
The host of “The Ricky Smiley Morning Show,” who did not reveal the circumstances behind Brandon’s death, stated that he now understands how his grandfather felt when he lost a kid.
The comedian requested prayers from his Instagram followers.
Rickey explained, “Now I understand… why he felt as he did.”
“My grandfather went through this with my father, and now I’m going through the same thing my grandparents did. Therefore, pray for our family.”
Two years after his daughter Aaryn was shot several times in a road rage incident while stopped at a red light on her way to Whataburger, the reality star made his news.
After the July 2020 shooting, the “Ricky Smiley For Real” star informed his YouTube viewers, “Today could have been different.” “I’m fortunate that [my daughter] is still alive.”
Aaryn discussed surviving the random act of gun violence on her father’s talk program later that month.

At the moment, the Baylor University student stated, “I’m glad to be alive.” “I pray for the victims of gun violence who have lost their lives as a result.”
The then-19-year-old said that she was “grateful” that her boyfriend rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent a blood transfusion and surgery.
Aaryn experienced panic attacks as a result of the shooting, with “loud noises or popping sounds” causing her to cry.
“The psychological aspect of all of this is terrifying,” she commented on Instagram Stories. “I’m hoping my mental health improves alongside my physical.”
