A man in his 30s from Pretoria has come forward to claim his over R32 million PowerBall jackpot prize from draw number 1376 held on 31 January 2023.
Since 2008, the latest unidentified PowerBall multimillionaire has worked as an administrator.
Since he began playing the National Lottery games only five years ago, he was always optimistic that he would eventually win the jackpot.
The winner stated, “I played the PowerBall using the quick-pick option at Checkers in Randburg.”
The South African website announced at the moment that the lucky player had won a staggering R32 713 559.10.
The five PowerBall numbers drawn were (in order): 12, 14, 17, 29, 50, and the actual Powerball number was 20.
When asked why he didn’t claim his winnings immediately, he responded, “Although I always play, I never check my tickets, and I still have a large number of tickets that I haven’t checked or validated yet.”
“There have been occasions in which some of my tickets expired after a year.
“However, this winning ticket was part of a batch that I decided to validate at a Sasol garage on Sunday,” he continued.
The winner had no extravagant spending intentions for his money.
However, he intends to repay his mortgage and will continue to work.
“Because I am accustomed to having money and managing it, my lifestyle will not really change,” he said. “Although I may do something special for my family, I am in no hurry to start spending because I am already quite comfortable.”
As a family-oriented individual, he spends the most of his weekends watching television and spending time with his children.
