Australia debuts the recruitment app Hunt, which matches job searchers with companies

Using a new Tinder-like recruitment software, an adolescent who was first daunted by the notion of job hunting was able to find a match with an employer within hours.

Mia Zanco, 17, managed to kickstart a career in travel after using recruitment app Hunt which matched her with a tourism agency in Noosa
Mia Zanco, age 17, obtained employment through Hunt, which started in Australia on Tuesday and links job seekers with employers using machine learning – a form of artificial intelligence that enables computers to react to data trends.

The app enables job searchers to establish a profile detailing their abilities, experience, history, and availability, while employers can post information about the positions they are seeking to fill.

It then employs an algorithm to match job seekers and employers based on their profiles, with users on both sides of the job market swiping until a suitable match is found.

Once a job candidate has been matched with an employer, a dialogue can be initiated and an interview can be scheduled.

Ms. Zanco stated that after graduating from high school, she felt overwhelmed when applying for jobs online.

She told Daily Mail Australia, “I didn’t know how to search for jobs, it was so intimidating because all the online applications had so much information and I didn’t know which one was right for me.”

Mia chose to make a profile after her high school guidance counselor recommended the Hunt app.

The following day, she was paired with the Sunshine Coast tourism operator Noosa Cruise and Travel in Queensland, and her hiring was finalized within a few weeks.

Mia remarked, “The app is very convenient for us Generation Z job seekers, as it caters to our needs.”

In high school, I would simply walk into stores with my resume, which was really intimidating for me at that age, and while searching for a job, the amount of information is very overwhelming.

Mia stated that senior users may initially find it challenging to navigate the application.

She remarked, ‘They’re not as accustomed to apps as Generation Z, but it’s incredibly simple to use.’

Natalie Cherry, co-founder of Hunt, stated that it would primarily assist workers in the hospitality, retail, construction, and travel industries.

Ms. Cherry, who co-founded the company and also operates two travel agencies, had the idea in 2018 while she was seeking to hire an entry-level employee.

She added, “I had stacks of black-and-white CVs on my desk, and because they had no experience and I couldn’t see them, I ended up interviewing far more candidates than I should have, and I knew within 10 seconds that they weren’t qualified for the job.”

Ms. Cherry has owned small businesses for the past 18 years and claims to have squandered a great deal of money on endeavors that yielded little return.

She stated, “I just thought there must be a more time-efficient way to hire people.”

Hunt was scheduled to begin in 2020, but the Covid epidemic delayed the initiative.

“After Covid, I was desperate for staff, and I decided I couldn’t waste any more money on ineffective advertisements,” Ms. Cherry said, adding that she has spent the last couple of years refining the software.

The co-founder stated that the software accelerated the hiring process from weeks to days and enabled job seekers to identify a suitable position within seconds.

How can high school graduates get employment beyond bulletin boards and storefront signs? Ms Cherry said.

She described the software as a straightforward three-step procedure in which users swipe, explore, and match.

“It allows people to be seen regardless of their skill level, age, or background,” explained the platform’s creator.

Hunt is free for job searchers, while companies receive a six-month trial at no cost. Beyond this, monthly subscriptions for employers range from $29.95 to $69.95.

The application is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
