Prince Louis, the youngest son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, joined his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to help renovate a Scout hut in Slough, Berkshire, in honour of their grandfather’s coronation.

As part of the Big Help Out initiative, the young royals got involved in various tasks such as painting, digging, and decorating, under the supervision of their parents.

Prince Louis, who was excited to try out everything from painting a planter base to shovelling sand and wheeling a barrow, ended the day splashed with paint and got his reward – a marshmallow-and-chocolate biscuit sandwich.

During the day, the five-year-old prince sat in his father’s lap and operated a digger after seeing his brother have a go.

When William took control of the digger and dumped a bucket full of earth onto a spoil heap, Louis was encouraged by his father to keep going, despite the digger lurching back slightly.

Louis also diligently filled a wheelbarrow with builders’ sand and wheeled it to help volunteers building a path.

Louis and Charlotte also painted the brick base of a planter with masonry paint, and Louis ended up with paint in his hair, but his sister helped him wipe it off.

One volunteer asked Louis if he might want to be a painter when he grows up, to which Louis replied, “No, a fighter pilot.”

The three young royals also took part in a game of archery and later received Scout scarves.

Before leaving, Louis roasted marshmallows over a brazier and was treated to a “smore” – a marshmallow-and-chocolate biscuit sandwich – which left him speechless for about 20 minutes, according to William.

Matt Hyde, the chief executive of The Scout Association, praised the royal family for their contribution to the day’s events, saying that they had a great time and looked like they had an incredible time.
