Highland Park Shooting: heartbroken family has identified their beloved grandfather as one of the six people shot dead

One of the six victims of a Fourth of July parade shooting in a wealthy Chicago neighbourhood has been identified by a grieving family as their beloved grandfather.

Nicholas Toledo was killed on Monday when a gunman, who is still on the loose, opened fire on a parade from the roof of an outdoor gear shop in Highland Park, Illinois.

We all feel rather numb right now. Toledo’s granddaughter told CBS Chicago reporter Tim McNicholas, “We’re all pretty broken inside.

Less than 15 minutes after the parade started, the shooting started.

Six victims—five adults—died at the procession and one more passed away in the hospital.

24 other people are receiving medical attention for injuries at a nearby hospital.
