Prince Harry has reportedly stated that he will only attend his father’s coronation if he receives a personal apology from both William and King Charles III.

The Duke of Sussex is demanding an audience with his family before returning to the UK for the ceremony in May. According to The Times, Harry feels that the royal family owes him and Meghan an apology for how they have been treated.

He had previously accused other royal households of leaking and planting stories about him and his wife. The Duchess of Sussex had also revealed in their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, that she “wasn’t being thrown to the wolves; I was being fed to the wolves.”

The atmosphere between Harry and the other royal family members remains “icy,” as reported by MailOnline. Harry had previously refused to commit to attending the coronation until King Charles III and William were “willing to sit down and talk about” the allegations he had leveled against the royal family. However, this appears unlikely as The Times reports that the royals do not believe that “an apology is owed.”

A source told The Times that the King remains “more than happy to sit down and have a conversation with [Harry] about everything that has happened.” However, the source also stated that “it would not be a one-way street” and that the King would be happy to listen and understand his son, even if he might not agree with him.

Earlier reports had suggested that William is worried that Harry’s presence will overshadow the event and that he feels his brother’s attendance will be an opportunity for a “stunt.” Should Meghan and Harry attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, they will do so as part of the royal family, but they will not be allowed to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the rest of the family.

MailOnline also reports that the Archbishop of Canterbury could intervene as a mediator if no agreement is reached. Besides the bad blood with his family, Harry’s son, Archie, celebrates his fourth birthday the same day as the coronation. His son’s special day could see Harry whisked in and out of Britain, and he might opt for a 48-hour “Harry in a hurry” trip while Meghan holds the fort at home.
