Prince Andrew reportedly told friends he has no intention of leaving Windsor estate after signing a £250-a-week lease for 75 years

Prince Andrew reportedly signed a 75-year lease for £250 a week and has spent millions renovating his Windsor estate, Royal Lodge, to his liking.

He has no intention of leaving despite reports that his allowance of £250,000 may be slashed by his brother, the King, as part of a plan to reduce royal costs.

Andrew argues that he signed the lease in 2003 and thought he would be able to call the estate home for the rest of his life. He reportedly spends most of his time on the 98-acre property, which has 30 bedrooms.

Andrew previously stepped down from being a working royal in 2019 following allegations of sexual abuse, which he denies, and has relied on private funds from the Duchy of Lancaster.

His late mother reportedly supported him with approximately £249,000 per year. However, the King has reportedly asked all members of the royal family to tighten their belts and expect less money from the Duchy, leading to suggestions that Andrew could lose his home.

The family’s solution may be to move him into the Belgravia home that Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife, purchased as an investment for their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

The property cannot be sold without the daughters’ written consent, and it is unclear who paid for it. Andrew has reportedly expressed fears that his older brother King Charles is trying to force him out of his £30 million Windsor home.
