Today, the Prime Minister met French President Macron at the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

The Prime Minister appreciated President Macron for his sincere comments on the death of Her Late Majesty The Queen, which represented the affection of the world community for His Majesty The King.

The leaders praised the significant gains achieved by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the last several days. They agreed on the significance of Ukraine’s friends and allies continuing to provide military, economic, and political assistance.

The Prime Minister and President Macron emphasised the necessity of working together to stop dependency on Russian energy and increase energy security as our citizens confront a challenging winter marked by a great deal of uncertainty around energy supplies and the expense of life. We must continue to show Putin that his economic blackmail over energy and food supply is ineffective.

The leaders agreed to strengthen UK-France collaboration on energy to decrease market volatility and lower family prices.

The Prime Minister and President anticipated deepening their partnership with France and other similar European countries, notably via the G7 and NATO.
