PRASA board names a temporary group CEO

The Board of Control of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has chosen Hishaam Emeran as the Interim Group CEO beginning September 1, 2022.

Emeran has over 18 years of expertise in the transportation industry and spent 10 years in the private sector before joining PRASA, according to a statement released by the PRASA Board of Control on Tuesday.

Emeran succeeds David Mphelo, whose tenure as Acting Group CEO concludes.

“Mphelo, the Chief Information Officer of PRASA, was designated Acting Group CEO for six months in accordance with the human capital management (HCM) policy regarding acting. “Emeran will serve as interim Group CEO as the board continues its search for a permanent replacement,” PRASA said.

His selection, according to the PRASA Board of Control, provides for a seamless continuation of PRASA’s rehabilitation programme and leadership, as he has been heavily involved in the agency’s recovery programmes.

“The Board would like to commend Mphelo for his exemplary leadership while PRASA restores train infrastructure and rail services. The Board is currently finalizing the nomination of a permanent Group CEO, according to the agency. – SAnews.gov.za
