According to authorities, two black adolescent females were detained and charged with hate crimes after assaulting a woman on a Queens MTA bus.
After hitting a 57-year-old woman in the head on July 9 after she claimed she was a huge supporter of former President Donald Trump, the anonymous suspects, aged 15 and 16, were taken into custody on Tuesday morning. Although a third person was engaged in the event, it is unknown if any other arrests will be made shortly.
Earlier this month, at approximately 7 o’clock in the evening, the three teens approached the female passenger and smacked her on the head while yelling “anti-white comments” in Woodhaven, a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, New York City.
The NYPD released a video of the three suspects strolling down a street in broad daylight prior to their arrests. One of the suspects had pale pink hair, while the other two had green hair.
The females were holding a variety of objects and were dressed in shorts, crop tops, and shoes.
Jill LeCroix, 57, was named as the victim by the New York Post.
The girl with the green hair remarked, “Before they attacked me, “I bet you support Trump! You do not? “‘ Telling The Post, LeCroix. “I love him,” I said. I couldn’t tell which of them struck me initially.
‘The one with the green hair, she was saying she hates white people, the way they talk, hates white skin, the way their skin breaks,’ continued LeCroix’s daughter. she was a gangster, etc.
LeCroix remembered being the sole person of color on the bus.
‘By the time we started passing St. John’s Cemetery on Woodhaven, she started in on me, saying, “That’s where I’m going to bury you!”‘
‘She had a bag from Bath and Body Works, and she took out a scrub and said she was going to beat me with it,’ LeCroix said. ‘It was a tangerine. She said, “You’re going to get what you deserve! All white people are going to get what they deserve.”‘
The 57-year-skull old’s wound required three staples to be closed.
Statistics for the first half of the year reveal that 14,461 felony assaults have been registered, compared to 12,151 at this point last year.
With 18,618 more occurrences reported so far this year than last, crime in the state as a whole has increased by 36.9 percent across all categories, including murder, rape, and robbery.
The most common crime in the city is grand theft, with felony assault coming in second.
