Following an apparently random shooting at a neighbourhood bar in Orlando East’s Nomzamo Informal Settlement, police are searching for unidentified suspects.
A gang of men reportedly entered the tavern on July 10, 2022, at around 01:30 a.m., equipped with rifles and 9mm handguns, and began firing indiscriminately at the customers who were seated inside. Twelve of the 23 persons who were shot were pronounced dead at the site, while 11 others were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Later, the hospital declared two more of them dead.
Police started investigating 14 murder cases and nine attempted murder cases.
