Peyton Hillis’ dramatic rescue from drowning: “A miracle.”

Earlier this month in Pensacola Beach, Florida, the former NFL running back Peyton Hillis nearly drowned while pulling his children from the surf. A video depicts the spectacle of first responders coming to his rescue.

The new footage, filmed by the body camera of an Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy and obtained by TMZ Sports, shows four medics working on Hillis on January 4, administering an IV and checking his vitals.

Hillis was eventually taken to a nearby hospital, where he was in serious condition and on a ventilator until Thursday, when he was released.

“Health-wise, everything looks good and has improved — it’s a miracle!” Thursday, Hillis’ sister Hayley Davis posted on Facebook.

“I recall seeing Peyt lying immobile on the sand while my mother had to rush back and forth between us while the medics assisted each of us. I continued to pray that Peyt would be okay.

“God has been truly with us and has sustained us. I am so grateful to know a strong God in both good and bad times.”

During his seven-year NFL career with the Giants, Browns, Broncos, and Chiefs, Hillis, 37, reportedly required treatment for his kidney and lungs while in the ICU.
