The death of a four-year-old kid who was discovered lifeless in a pool a year and a half ago is still shrouded in mystery.
At 5 p.m. on August 29, 2021, Tarrin-Macen O’Sullivan was discovered in the pool of a Munburra property in the Mackay district of Queensland.
After a post-mortem examination showed that he may have been dead before entering the water, police stated that investigations are ongoing.
A homicide inquiry is underway, sixteen months after a 4-year-old boy’s body was discovered in a Queensland swimming pool.
Tom Armitt, Detective Inspector of Mackay, stated that police had no idea how or why the toddler was discovered in the pool.
The infant received immediate CPR, but he was subsequently pronounced dead at Mackay Base Hospital.
When the autopsy results were disclosed two months later, the police learned that the cause of death was “inconsistent with drowning.”
A homicide investigation was initiated 14 months ago, and the matter is still active.
Detective Inspector Tom Armitt stated at the time that the facts surrounding how and why the youngster was found in the pool were unknown.
Numerous witnesses and the boy’s family assisted police with their investigation, but no one has been apprehended or charged.
Inspector Armitt stated, “We’re dealing with the death of a four-year-old boy, and obviously a small child relies heavily on the care of others.”
Andrew O’Sullivan, Tarrin-father, Macen’s who lives in Mackay, told 7 News he was saddened when police broke the news to him that his son had died.
He stated, “It’s one of those things that no parent has the capacity to comprehend.”
After an autopsy revealed that the boy’s death was ‘inconsistent with drowning,’ homicide police are continuing to investigate his death.
Grieving family members have characterized Tarrin-Macen O’Sullivan as possessing a “cheeky smile and cute giggle.”

No matter what happens, it will be a blow.
He stated that Tarrin-Macen was autistic and that the family had relocated from New South Wales to Queensland to be closer to family support networks.
A GoFundMe page was created on behalf of Tarrin-family Macens’s the day following his passing.
The description on the fundraiser read, ‘Everyone who met Tarrin fell instantly in love with him.’
“Whether it was his cheeky smile and cute giggle, or his amazing ability to grab your phone and within 30 seconds change the language to Chinese, set 16 alarms, and adjust the font settings so that you needed binoculars to read your phone, he touched so many of our lives, and we just weren’t ready for him to leave this world just yet.”
