After a devastating vehicle accident that resulted in the deaths of five teens, veteran journalist Peter Overton veered off script and urged parents to watch the news with their children.

Tuesday in southwest Sydney, a Nissan Navara pickup carrying fourteen to sixteen-year-old students from Picton High School went off the road and collides with a tree.

The P-plate driver and lone survivor was discovered beside the debris at 8 p.m. on East Parade in Buxton, a community of around 1,000 people located 100 kilometers southwest of Picton.

There were no other automobiles involved in the collision.

After delivering the afternoon update, Overton pleaded with parents to watch the evening news with their adolescents at 6:00 p.m.

It will be difficult, but it may save their lives.

After providing the afternoon update, newscaster Peter Overton made a heartfelt appeal to parents.
