NSW Bunnings bans guy who attempted to steal a cordless drill

In one Australian state, a guy has been prohibited from entering any Bunnings Hardware locations after it was claimed that he tried to shoplift a cordless drill by stuffing it down his trousers.

The 37-year-old man reportedly used the drill last Saturday at the Bunnings shop in Kotara, New South Wales, which is close to Newcastle.

Staff members followed the guy as he started to leave the shop before approaching him and asking him to give the drill back to them.

When the guy allegedly attempted to escape the scene, staff members executed a citizen’s arrest and were able to find the drill.

After reportedly continuing to rebuff shop employees, he was subsequently taken into custody by police in the business’s garden bed.

At Newcastle Police Station, the guy was charged and released on conditional bail with a date to appear at Newcastle Local Court in October.

A notice prohibiting him from visiting any Bunnings location in New South Wales has been issued.
