Channel Nine Sydney presenter Peter Overton shocks viewers after revealing health condition

After showing up on the nightly bulletin looking worse for wear, a well-known broadcaster spoke up on air about his most recent health concern.

Despite a horrifying burst blood vessel in his right eye, Channel Nine Sydney newscaster Peter Overton carried on as normal during the 6 o’clock report on Sunday night.

The seasoned newscaster gave a quick update, assuring astonished viewers that he was well and that his eye was getting better.

‘You may have noticed my right eye isn’t looking its best tonight,’ Overton explained.Peter Overton (pictured with wife Jessica Rowe) has opened up about a new health scare

‘All is okay. I have a burst blood vessel and it looks worse than it actually is.’

‘Indeed, it’s getting better by the day so there you go.’

A blood vessel can burst in the same way as a hard sneeze, cough, or rubbing of the eye does.

It causes bleeding under the conjunctiva, a layer of tissue above the sclera, the white portion of the eye, and is sometimes referred to as subconjunctival hemorrhage.

It’s a widespread ailment that often clears up on its own within a fortnight.

Less than two years have passed since Overton underwent surgery to remove a melanoma that was found on his temple.

After working as a reporter for 60 Minutes for eight years prior, Mr. Overton has been reading the nightly news at 6 o’clock since 2009.
