On Sunday in Ottawa, Ontario, Paula Reto defeated Nelly Korda to win the CP Women’s Open and claim her maiden LPGA Tour victory.
Reto finished the week with a 4-under-par 67 to tie for 19-under par for the week. With a first-round score of 62 on Thursday, the South African broke the course record at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, but she began Sunday one stroke behind South Korean rookies Hye-Jin Choi and Na Rin An.
Reto advanced to 20 under for the competition after making bogeys on the first, third, sixth, eighth, and ninth holes. She completed the back nine in 1 over par, but by that time, she had built up enough of a lead to secure the victory.
Her par putt at the par-5 18th hole gave her the historic win.
Reto stated on the CBS program, “I was so anxious, oh my word. As I approached the last hole, I instructed myself to “cool your anxieties.”

In her debut season, she tied for third place in the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic.
Reto said, “I’m so thrilled, and it’s been so long.” “”I hope one day I’ll win,” I thought. You realize? But that really happened. Definitely a dream come true.”
After finishing the front nine at even par, third-ranked player Korda made a late surge. She made a birdie at No. 11 and then holled out for an eagle at the par-4 12th, bringing her score to 17 under.

Korda tied Reto at 19 under after a bogey, two more birdies, and two missed birdie putts on the last two holes. She also had a score of 67 and equaled Choi for second (69).
The fourth-ranked player in the world, Lydia Ko of New Zealand, had an 8-under 63, which was tied for the lowest score of the day. She made birdies at each of her last four holes. At 17 under, she placed fourth all by herself. South Korean Lim Kim (67) finished fifth at 16 under.
