Patrick Vieira wants a quick response against Brentford

London – Patrick Vieira, manager of Crystal Palace, has challenged his team to respond quickly to their loss to Manchester City when they meet London rivals Brentford on Tuesday.

At halftime at the Etihad, a John Stones own-goal and a Joachim Andersen header gave Palace a 2-0 lead against the Premier League champions, putting them in position to preserve their outstanding record against them.

Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick in 19 minutes to give Pep Guardiola’s team a 4-2 victory after Bernardo Silva scored an equalizer.

Monday during his pre-game press conference, Vieira stated, “We must rebound from our loss versus City.”

It’s a matter of recovering and attempting to cover those areas of the game that require improvement.

Former Arsenal and France midfielder Thierry Henry added: “Last year, our games against (Brentford) were quite hard.

“The opposing squad is not particularly creative compared to a team that is physically powerful and working hard.

“It will be a unique obstacle (than Saturday). Possession will be more evenly distributed between both sides, but the opposition will be formidable.”

Both of the clubs’ league encounters ended scoreless, with Vieira stating: “The last time we played them, there were a few chances for both teams, and neither team was able to score.

“I believe they have an equal chance of winning as we do, as they are playing with a great deal of confidence and their system is well-suited to the individuals. We will need to be physically and strategically prepared for optimal performance.

“You only need to look at their game against United to observe the high speed and aggression. If we want to play our game against a team that can press higher to try to win the ball in the opponent’s half, we will need to be exceptional with the ball.”
