On June 25, the Immaculate Heart of Mary feast day, hundreds of men participated in Mexico City’s first-ever Men’s Rosary while yelling, “Long live Christ the King!”

Before proceeding in procession to the atrium of Santo Domingo church, which is located in the heart of Mexico City, the men first attended Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral.

The event’s coordinator, Leonardo Brown, said in an interview with ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language sister news agency, “it was a unique, and I would say historical, experience.”

With “everyone facing the icons of the Virgin and the patron St. Joseph,” he stated, “the contingent set out singing hymns to Christ the King and to the Virgin” and proceeded to Santo Domingo Plaza for the prayers.

According to Brown, perhaps 700 or 800 men said the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary.

According to Brown, “the most exhilarating experience was witnessing so many men on their knees in front of the Virgin of Guadalupe, as well as the fact that many people spontaneously joined the procession.”

Additionally, according to Brown, “not a few” people were so moved by the anthems for Christ the King that they started crying.

A man who went to Confession after missing the sacrament for 13 years was one of the witnesses who spoke at the event.

An international prayer movement known as the Men’s Rosary got its start in Poland. Men’s Rosary activities have been held in Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and Paraguay, showing how popular the movement has become in that region.

Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands, England, the United States, Lithuania, and Spain are additional nations where Men’s Rosary events have been held.

The founders of the Men’s Rosary in Poland say on their website that their mission is to carry out the will of the Virgin Mary, which is to carry out the will of her Son, Jesus Christ.

They add that “the function of men in God’s plan is to safeguard all those whom God has given us here on earth, for eternal life.”

On the website, they write, “We also have the job of preserving the holiness of our families and loved ones, just as St. Joseph was the earthly protector of the Holy Family.”

“In a community of males, we want to accomplish it together. We bolster our sense of masculinity and male values through this togetherness.
