Omar Lali is appointed as the Beach Boys Association’s national coordinator by the Roots Party

Justina Wangui Wamae, the Deputy Presidential candidate for the Roots Party, made the announcement of Lali’s appointment.

“Omar brings the beach boys vote who are many at times ignored in Kenya’s development agenda. Roots Party of Kenya looks forward to this strategic partnership,” Wamae said.

Wamae noted that Lali appointment will help the party’s agenda to revitalize the tourism industry in the country.

“Beach boys spur up the tourism economy as they are guides offering lengthy tours of the coastline and the marine parks.

Others sell African souvenirs such as khangas, Maasai sandals and beadwork. Some of these traders display their wares along the sandy stretch,” she said.

Lali gained notoriety in April 2020 after being implicated in the murder of Tecra Muigai, a Keroche heiress who was Lali’s ex-girlfriend.

According to reports, Muigai, who shared a home with Lali at the Jaha Guest House in Malindi, Kilifi County, died after falling to her death from the stairs.

Later, Lali was detained and accused of the murder. But after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) dismissed the murder charges due to a lack of evidence, he was eventually freed.
