Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, while also thanking President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR at a rally in Lafia, explained that the total number of beneficiaries of N-Power, Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer, and the National Home Grown School Feeding has assisted the administration in escaping the recession.

The National Social Investment Programme is unprecedented in the history of past Nigerian governments, according to Umar Farouq, who added that it has helped to alleviate abject poverty in the country.

“Your Excellency, let me declare that since the country’s independence, no government has done as much for the needy as you have. Your Excellency, you have done so much for the poor and vulnerable in your primary constituency without fear of disagreement.

“I appreciate you on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged in this country, who are the primary recipients of our National Social Investment Programs. If you look to the extreme left, you will see them waving in response to your message. They are extremely appreciative for what you have done for them during your administration.

“Your Excellency, we have four clusters under the National Social Investment Programme…

The N-Power Conditional Cash Transfer Programme provides N5,000 per month to 2 million households. Our N-Power youngsters receive N30,000 every month, and there are currently 1.5 million of them. We have also been able to target small and medium-sized business owners, providing them with collateral-free and interest-free loans ranging from N50,000 to N300,000 to launch their companies.

“As part of the National Homegrown School Feeding Program, we also serve students in grades 1 through 3 on school days. There are close to ten million of these students. These are some of the parents of the students we feed daily, your excellency. These are some of the monthly recipients of N5,000. These are some of the parents that earn N30,000 per month to educate their children and contribute to the country’s GDP and development.

“Your Excellency, it is hardly surprising that we exited recession shortly after entering it. This was the money people used to provide for themselves and their families. This is why we are here, Your Excellency, to request the consolidation of these achievements and the continuation of these programs for the benefit of the Nigerian people.”
