Who doesn’t enjoy a fantastic blend of drama and comedy? In February, the new kykNET series Mooiweer en Warm will follow pastor Issie (played by Marisa Drummond), who, like many others, struggles to keep her congregation together. This is why she decides to sign a contract with Alex Kemp (Geon Nel) to use the church grounds every Saturday for a flea market. However, will everything happen as planned?
HIGHS AND LOWS OF A WEEKEND CHURCH GARAGE SALE
Written by the renowned author Paul C. Venter (Arende, Konings, Vlug na Egipte and Terug na Egipte), and directed by Zandré Coetzer and Ephraim Gordon, the film depicts the ups and downs of a church flea market and the people who run it.
While the characters get a peek of their down-to-earth existence, the dam atop the hill fills spectators with dread and suspense. Heavy rain might cause the dam to burst, but the only people who are aware of the potential threat are scientists, who are not necessarily famed for their people skills. As the story progresses and viewers become acquainted with the individuals, there is one concern that must be answered: what will happen if a severe storm arrives? Will the dam remain intact?
The cast of Mooiweer en Warm is excellent. Numerous well-known actors, including Carla Smith, Brümilda van Rensburg, André Samuels, Beer Adriaanse, Susan Danford, Jacques Theron, Tinarie van Wyk Loots, Deon Lotz, Ira Blanckenberg, and Kim Cloete, will appear in the film.Venter revealed his inspiration for the series by stating that he felt a flea market was the ideal backdrop for drama and intrigue.
Venter stated, “I’ve always wanted to create a series about a flea market.” “While I was conducting research at an actual flea market, someone mentioned how deadly a market fire would be. This prompted me to consider other catastrophes that could spell the end of a market and the question, “Will it or won’t it?” I believe it will maintain viewers’ interest till the very end.”
