Beneficiaries of NPower protest the non-payment of July and August benefits.

NPower beneficiaries demonstrated in public to denounce non-payment.

It is quite regrettable that some Npower Batch C recipients have not yet received their two monthly allowances.

So, yesterday, several recipients and their family members protested the non-payment of a two-month stipend to voice their unhappiness and anger.

The protestors bemoaned the federal government’s failure to pay monthly allowances for the months of July and August while carrying banners with different inscriptions.

Additionally, they are pleading with the federal government to continue the program for at least two years, as is the case for Batch A and Batch B recipients, via the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadia Omar Farooq.

Because of a shortage of funding, the Npower program has often made headlines for failing to pay participants’ stipends over the previous two years. The Federal Government has also shortened the program’s two-year term to one year.

In order to combat unemployment and advance social development, Npower was established in June 2016.

The program is created as a component of the National Social Investment Program (NSIP) for graduate and post-graduate students who are jobless and are between the ages of 18 and 35. It serves as a framework for the development of comprehensive and relevant knowledge and skills.

All beneficiaries of Npower get a monthly stipend that ranges from N10,000 to 40,000 Naira, with the goal of ensuring that each participant learns and practices as much as they need to do in order to find or create a job.

Unfortunately, the improvement program is plagued by issues with late or non-payment of the monthly stipend.

Hundreds of Npower recipients in Abuja protested three months of unpaid benefits in December 2021.

One of the demonstrators, Michelle Bright, said she had not yet gotten her monthly stipend, which has caused many people to go hungry and get unwell.

“We’ve been starving for months and can’t take it anymore. That’s why we protested today. Something needs to be done urgently,” he concluded.
