Noah Schnapps comes out as gay

The LGBTQIA+ community remains victorious! Noah Schnapp has declared his sexual orientation in the most Gen Z-appropriate manner possible.

The actor uploaded a video of himself lip-syncing to a TikTok song with the lyrics “You know what it never was? That severe. Never was it that serious. Sincerely, it will never be that severe.”

The on-screen caption of his lip-sync video states, “When I finally told my friends and family that I was gay after being afraid to come out for 18 years, all they said was ‘we know.’”

Schnapp uploaded the video on his 31.8 million followers with the statement, “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I realized.” In July of the fourth season of the show, he acknowledged that his character, Will Byers, is homosexual and “in love with Mike.”

The video of his coming out has been viewed over 45 million times on the platform, with over nine million likes and hundreds of encouraging comments from celebs and fans. The Empire State Building, a New York City landmark, commented “We love you” on Schnapp’s post.

I suppose I am more similar to Will than I previously believed.

Support has already spread to other social media platforms, leaving Twitter users ecstatic at the news.

“Noah Schnapp devours the role of Will Byers because he truly understands the agony of being a closeted homosexual,” observed one Stranger Things fan. “No wonder he always understood the assignment.”

Another individual expressed this feeling, stating, “I couldn’t be happier that Noah Schnapp is playing Will Byers. It is fantastic to have a queer teen portrayed and advocated for by a queer actor.”

Others have seen parallels between Schnapp’s announcement and the coming out plot of Heartstopper, which portrays Olivia Colman as the mother of a gay teen.

Some rude comments have been made comparing Schnapp’s coming out to the popular memes accusing his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown of being homophobic. Since 2018, the memes have been circulating, prompting her to cancel her Twitter account at age 14.

All of this is to convey that we are proud of and glad for Schnapp.
