NEWS FLASH: Orlando Pirates introduce a striker from Cameroon!

Marou Souaibou, a forward from Cameroon, has been officially acquired by Orlando Pirates from Coton Sport.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Pirates disclosed that Marou will remain under contract until 2025.

This implies that the Cameroon international has committed to a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Pirates, who have struggled to score goals.

Marou, 22 years old, is highly regarded after a three-year stay with Coton Sport, where he won two league titles.

His goalscoring record is what led the Pirates to Marou, who was also awarded the league’s top player in 2022.

Marou has joined Pirates along with fellow Cameroonian forward Bienvenu Eva Nga. The former Chippa United player joined the team at the beginning of the season.

Pirates have created room for Marou by loaning Kwame Peprah to Maritzburg United for the remainder of the season.

According to Pirates, Marou joined his new teammates in training on Wednesday, but due to bureaucracy, he is unlikely to face Stellenbosch on Sunday.

The 22-year-old has signed a contract to remain with the club until 2025.

Marou arrives in South Africa after a three-year tenure with his old club, Coton Sport, during which he won two league titles and the Player of the Season award in 2022.

His performance in the Cameroonian league earned him a spot on the 2022 FIFA World Cup team that competed in Qatar.

The Cameroonian international will join his new colleagues this morning after signing a contract with the club last afternoon.
