New Yorkers discovered a pink-dyed pigeon used in a gender-reveal celebration

A conservation group suggests that a pigeon recovered from a New York City park may have been dyed bright pink for a gender reveal party.

According to the BBC website, the malnourished king pigeon was discovered in Manhattan’s Madison Square Park.

It was rescued and afterwards transported to the Wild Bird Fund for care.

The non-profit wildlife rescue and education organization believes that the pigeon was intentionally colored.

In a Twitter thread, the Wild Bird Fund stated, “As a domestic bird unable to obtain food in the wild, fly well, or evade predators, this poor child already had it rough before being dyed.

Fortunately, a kind individual rescued him at Madison Square Park, and he is currently in good care.

In response to a user who questioned why someone would do this, the organization stated that “gender reveal is a growingly popular theory.”

Gender reveal parties are a tradition in which pregnant parents organize grandiose parties to announce their child’s gender before birth.

It is unknown whether a blue-colored pigeon is still waiting to be discovered.
