New Hampshire hiker dies

According to a press release from New Hampshire Fish and Game, a hiker descended Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire and died after slipping and falling from a cliff.

Three individuals travelled to the top of the mountain on a tram on Saturday. According to the press release, they first planned to use the tram to go back to the mountain’s base, but then changed their minds.

Instead, the party made the choice to go down the mountain on what they thought was a ski route. One of the hikers “slipped leading him to tumble over a cliff,” according to a press release, as they tried to negotiate their way down a steep, rocky region with a waterfall.

Just before 1 p.m., the other two hikers contacted 911 after losing sight of their partner, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game. When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered the hiker’s corpse at the base of the waterfall.

The hiker was not identified by authorities.

The event happened after a hiker died on Friday after falling at Multnomah Falls in Oregon. According to Corbett Fire Chief Rick Wunsch, first responders trekked more than a mile up a path before discovering a woman’s corpse who had fallen around 100 feet.

According to Wunsch, the unnamed lady was declared deceased at the scene.
