Ndara opens case over suicide allegations

Vatiswa Ndara, a renowned television actress and radio announcer, has filed a case of crimen injuria and defamation against an online entertainment writer who claims she attempted suicide following a negative sexual encounter at the SABC.

Last week, Ndara filed charges at the Midrand police station, north of Johannesburg, against the writer of Celeb Gossip, accusing him of making malicious allegations about her.

A police officer who did not wish to be identified because he is not permitted to speak to the media stated that Ndara, who published a book titled Unfiltered chronicling her life and career as a television actress, claimed that the author intentionally distorted the facts in order to caricature her.

The former Muvhango actress recounts in one of the book’s chapters an episode in which she was sexually harassed by a male SABC employee, according to the police officer. The skilled actress claimed she was overwhelmed by the violation and attempted suicide as a result.

Ndara states in a book excerpt, “I knew this was going to kill me; there was no way I was going to survive with all these pills and drinks.” “I remember the day I cleaned the house. I cleaned the house before I did all these other things so at least people could visit a clean place.”

The news site, however, appears to have skewed the facts by claiming that the former Generations actress attempted suicide after terrible “TLof TLof” (slang for sex) at the public broadcaster.

“She never had a terrible sexual experience with anyone. This individual has disseminated false information about her in the name of journalism or free expression and must accept full responsibility for his actions. “You cannot defame people in order to gain a large social media following or receive many clicks,” the officer stated.

Ndara stated in a police statement, which we have seen, that she received a WhatsApp message from a concerned friend informing her that Hlongwane had published a story about the incident at the SABC on his website, which prompted her to want to end it all.

She stated that the charges were not only baseless, but also “shaming”

“Miss VV Ndara (Vatiswa) has filed a lawsuit against celeb gossip news after receiving a Whatsapp message from a friend informing her that the website had published her sex incident at the SABC.

“According to the posts, she tried suicide after TLof TLof, as described in the statement, which she considered humiliating. The publisher never confirmed permission or obtained it. The situation will be examined, and the suspect will be tracked down for answers,” the police statement reads.

Ndara, who as Nomarussia in the hit drama series Igazi on Mzansi Magic, did not respond to our phone calls or text messages.

Mavela Masondo, the provincial police spokesperson for Gauteng, confirmed that Ndara had filed charges against the author. He stated that no arrests had been made and that investigations were ongoing.
