Penny Lebyane, a renowned radio presenter and anti-gender-based violence activist, has accused Alios Naka, the father of her children, of being a deadbeat parent for at least 14 years.
Lebyane stated that Naka’s refusal to pay child support had pushed her into a financial abyss, and her home and belongings were seized and sold by the sheriff after she failed to pay her bills.
Last Monday, she filed an emergency petition with the Joburg High Court to terminate some of Naka’s parental responsibilities and rights, which contained the revealing details.
Lebyane stated in her application that she and Naka had a love relationship that terminated in 2008 with the birth of their two children. Since the breakup, Lebyane has been living with the children, although she does not know where the businessman resides.
The former Metro FM host stated that Naka was nowhere to be found when she attempted to file for the children’s passports in 2017. She stated that she later sought redress at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court, where judgment was rendered in Naka’s absence because court personnel were unable to locate him.
The papers stated, “We communicate via WhatsApp, text message, and email, but he is slow to respond, and when he does, he makes false promises.” Lebyane also stated that she occasionally contacted Naka’s eldest kid to advise him of critical matters she needed him to address for the children, and Naka would send the child to carry out his orders.
She stated that her troubles were exacerbated when schools began requiring an unabridged birth certificate to be submitted with enrollment applications. She stated that Naka’s signature is required on the application form because his information is included.
