Kefiloe Mdutyulwa posted to Instagram on February 1 to discuss the alleged abuse she endured in her marriage to 5FM’s Smash Afrika, sarcastically stating that it was her anniversary and hence she could discuss it.
The daughter of actress Rami Chuene, best known for her role as Thato on the eTV serial opera Scandal!, accused her husband of beating her and expressing concern for the safety of their child.
Mdutyulwa stated in a “long read” Instagram post that she had to make a difficult decision based primarily on her Christian convictions. She was concerned that if she dissolved her marriage, she would be “disobeying God” and wrote,
“When I was being mistreated, I had to decide whether to stay in my marriage, maybe at the danger of my life or to the detriment of my child. This decision was especially challenging since I feared defying God by quitting my marriage.
Mdutyulwa added, “God’s covenantal design for marriage is broken by abuse, and Scripture does not require an abused wife to remain married to an abuser; therefore, the body of Christ is called to model God’s compassion toward abused women through effective strategies designed to meet the needs of women who are trying to escape abusive relationships.”
She followed the tweet with a video of herself lip-syncing to a sound and stating,
Why don’t you just kill this individual, God?
Mdutyulwa captioned the video, “My prayer when my husband was demonstrating flames to me.”
The radio host reportedly reported his wife for malicious property damage at the Randburg police station.
Supposedly, the police statement read:
“She went outside and shattered all of my car’s windows, then stole my keys and threw them at my neighbor.”
The worth of the destroyed goods is around R30,000.
Sunday World later revealed that Fetch Your Life hitmaker Asanda “Msaki” Mvana was at the center of the couple’s quarrel. Mdutyulwa allegedly accused her husband of having an affair with Msaki after finding a photograph of Smash Afrika kissing the singer.
