A two-year-old boy, Joshua ‘JJ’ Rowland, who had gone missing from his family home in Brooksville, Florida, was found in the woods after over 24 hours of searching.
The boy had wandered away from his home while his mother was sleeping, and he was found half a mile north of his home by Roy Link, a former marine and one of more than 500 volunteers who had joined the search.
Despite being barefoot, grazed, and scared, the boy was found smiling and was unharmed. The search involved nearly 100 law enforcement officials, ATVs, infrared cameras, horses, and helicopters.
The boy’s mother had spent an hour looking for him before alerting the authorities. His father shared a photo of his tearful mother holding him after he was found.
The Hernando County Sheriff expressed gratitude to the volunteers, and one of the volunteers said he found the boy shortly after saying a prayer.
