Mind games begin… Romain Folz of Amazulu challenges Chiefs

The stage is prepared for the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final between AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs, which will take place on Sunday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Gabadinho Mhango’s key away goal for AmaZulu was cancelled out by Keegan Dolly in the first leg at FNB, setting up an enthralling second encounter between the two teams.

Amakhosi enter this encounter off a dismal league draw at home.

Arthur Zwane, head coach of the Chiefs, stated that despite the fact that his team has been guilty of squandering golden opportunities in games, they still boast one of the league’s top offensive threats.

Romain Folz, the new head coach of AmaZulu, stated prior to their next cup match that Zwane’s words are psychological manipulation, as he attempts to motivate his players for the game.

Folz stated, “I believe he’s attempting to play a mental card by stating he’s trying to motivate his players, and that sort of remark has an effect on their confidence.”

“It is a tactic that is occasionally employed and sometimes effective. It’s his opinion, and I’m not saying it’s correct or incorrect.”

“Yes, they have extremely good offensive players, but so do we. I honestly don’t believe they have a higher-quality offense than we do, and the same goes for every line in midfield and defense. It will therefore come down to who has the superior strategy and which group of players executes it more effectively.”

Usuthu are concerned about the health of Lehlohonolo Majoro, who had a mild concussion against Orlando Pirates, but Folz gained a significant boost with the return of the tenacious Gabadinho Mhango.

Mhango scored in their most recent match against Maritzburg United upon his return from suspension and is expected to play a big role versus Chiefs. Since his arrival, Folz has lauded his marksmen for their approach.

“I’m pleased with his performance in the previous game, but I’m also pleased with how he has reintegrated himself into the team after his suspension,” he remarked.

“I believe he will continue to exceed my expectations as we develop, but I have assigned him a very precise role in the team. I’m glad to have him back, as I rely on him just as much as the rest of the team, since he’s responding extremely well tactically.”
