Mikaben, 41, died after collapsing onstage

The ‘Fe Lapli’ hitmaker, whose true name was Michael Benjamin, surprised audiences when he fell as he exited the stage at the Accor Arena in Paris, where he had performed as Carmini’s guest.

It was eventually discovered that he had died at the age of 41.

On Sunday, the 20,000-person venue revealed through Twitter that Mikaben, the son of singer Lionel Benjamin, “died after suffering a seizure on stage despite the efforts of emergency personnel.”

Mickael Guirand informed to the audience that the situation was “extremely complicated” as he pulled the plug on the performance, as captured on camera.

He stated, “The show is over. We must immediately escape the room.

“It is quite complex. We require prayer.”

Ariel Henry, the prime minister of the singer’s native Haiti, led the tributes.

He wrote, “I’m shocked by the tragic passing of the young and extraordinarily gifted artist Michael Benjamin ‘Mikaben’. A key character in Haitian music has passed away.”

Former island premier Jean Henry Ceant referred to Mikaben as “one of the most outstanding painters of his generation.”

Wyclef Jean, who is also from the Caribbean, referred to him in an interview with the Miami Herald as “one of the most important and motivating young artists of our generation.”

He noted on Twitter that Mikaben passed away prematurely.

Roberto Martino expressed “disbelief” to the same newspaper regarding Mikaben’s passing, as he had just spoken to him before he took the stage.

He said: “I’m in disbelief.”

“I worked with this individual for years and regarded him as a brother and a close friend. We spoke nearly every day. We have a conversation.”

“He was so content. He could hardly wait to perform beside CaRiMi on that stage. It was one of the greatest achievements of his life. It is a group that he admired.”

In a special broadcast on the radio station Magik9, the singer Tamara Suffren referred to his death as “a blow to the country,” which has been affected by a wave of problems in recent years.

The songwriter of “Ayti Se” leaves his pregnant wife Vanessa.

She wrote, “I’m in no state to speak. “I lost my other half and am speechless.”
