At the 95th Academy Awards, Ke Huy Quan and Harrison Ford shared a precious onstage reunion that helped put the “Everything” in Everything Everywhere All At Once’s Best Picture win.
The A24 film, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, won a total of seven awards that night, including Best Supporting Actor for Quan.
However, the Best Picture win was particularly special for Quan because living legend Harrison Ford presented it.
Ford and Quan both starred in Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984.
When they embraced on the Oscars stage, fans couldn’t help but flashback to the memorable hug they shared nearly four decades earlier.
When Quan went on stage to accept the night’s biggest award alongside his cast and crew, he started excitedly jumping and pointing at Ford before the two hugged, and Quan kissed Ford on the cheek.
The camera even cut to Spielberg in the audience, who was happily cheering them on.
Comparison photos of the iconic present-day hug and the Indiana Jones embrace are still flooding social media. In September 2022, Quan shared two photos to Instagram of him and Ford at Disney’s D23 convention.
He explained in an interview with The New York Times that he felt a rush of excitement seeing Ford again after so many years.
Ford sang Quan’s praises when asked about his potential Oscar nomination in December 2022, telling Uproxx that Quan was “really terrific in his movie.”
He also said he was happy for him and glad to see what he has become. In January 2023, Ford also spoke to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “He’s a great guy…He’s a wonderful actor.
He was when he was a little kid, and he still is. I’m glad. I’m very happy for him.”
All in all, Short Round and Indy’s reunion was a heartwarming moment that stirred up nostalgia among fans.
This feels like the perfect time for a cathartic happy cry and a Temple of Doom rewatch.
