Meghan Markle’s mother Doria weeps when discussing suicidal thoughts

On “Harry & Meghan,” Doria Ragland cried when discussing her daughter Meghan Markle’s suicide fears.

In new episodes revealed on Thursday, the 66-year-old recalled the “Suits” alum telling her “she had attempted suicide.”

Ragland recalled, “That crushed my heart because I knew it was terrible… This is not an easy statement for a mother to hear.”

The former yoga instructor said that neither she nor Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, were able to “shield” the former actress from the public hatred she endured as a result of her connection with the prince.

Ragland said of Markle, 41, “[She was] just continually being picked upon by these vultures nibbling away at her spirit.” “considering actively not wanting to be here.”

Doria Ragland became tearful when revealing the suicidal worries of her daughter Meghan Markle.

Ragland’s poignant interview comes nearly two years after the “Deal or No Deal” veteran initially opened up about her struggle with suicidal ideation.

“I just didn’t want to be alive anymore,” Markle said Oprah Winfrey in a shocking interview in March 2021. “I knew I would do it even if I didn’t say it. And this was a constant, very real, and terrible thought.”

Ragland stated on “Harry & Meghan” that it was difficult for a mother to receive such news.

The Duchess of Sussex stated that while pregnant with her son Archie in January 2019, she informed Prince Harry that she could not “be left alone” prior to an event at Royal Albert Hall.

Markle stated, “If you zoom closer, you can see how hard his knuckles are gripping mine.” “You can see the whites of our knuckles because we are smiling and performing our duties, but we are both just trying to hang on.”

Harry, 38, revealed on the Netflix program that he “hates” himself for his reaction to his wife’s confession.

“I didn’t handle it particularly well,” recalled the former military pilot. “What she required from me much exceeded what I could provide.”

Markle stated, “I wanted to seek assistance elsewhere, but I was not permitted to.” They were anxious for the reputation of the institution.”

The pair departed England in January 2020 and now reside in Montecito, California, with their children Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.
