London Mayor Sadiq Khan and TfL have received criticism for a series of adverts on the London Underground that have been described as “hideous” and “outrageous” by politicians.
The posters include sexual innuendo, adverts for plastic surgery and “Turkey teeth” abroad, and there are concerns over the safety of some adverts for vulnerable people.
The ads have been questioned by MPs and London Assembly Members, who argue that they do not “square up” with TfL’s recent financial troubles.
Head of the Conservatives in the LGA Susan Hall called some of the adverts “dreadful” and criticised their placement where children and vulnerable women could see them.
