An probe will decide that Sadiq Khan unfairly fired Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick, it was alleged Tuesday.
The London mayor’s decision-making in the weeks before Dame Cressida’s resignation in February is alleged to have been labelled “irrational” and “unreasonable” in a draught assessment by Sir Tom Winsor, the former Chief Inspector of Constabulary.
It is also alleged to detail “unfair pressure” and include charges of “oppressive” treatment of her by Mr. Khan. According to The Guardian, Mr. Khan is in discussions with attorneys and thinks the story is biassed and inaccurate.
He has written a letter of complaint to Priti Patel, the home secretary.
The draught findings of Sir Tom’s report, he claimed, “were manifestly skewed and in many instances beyond his terms of reference and unsupported by the evidence.” Sir Tom, he continued, “inexplicably refused to furnish me with a final version of his report to you.”
Mr. Winsor was chosen by Miss Patel to carry out the investigation. The complete report might be released as soon as next week.
Following a string of controversies and backlash from the mayor, Dame Cressida decided to step down.
She left formally in April. Public trust in the police decreased throughout her five years on the job.
The kidnapping and murder of marketing professional Sarah Everard by London policeman Wayne Couzens and the photography of the murdered sisters Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman by Met policemen were among the scandals.
The Met was first placed in “special measures” two months after Dame Cressida resigned.
