Man recovering from serious injuries after being involved in a hit and run in Kyneton, Victoria.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they investigate a hit-and-run that left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were notified after members of the public heard two loud thuds before they found Josh Millard, 33, on Sturt Street in Kyneton, Victoria shortly after 2am on Easter Saturday.

He was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.

Police also said it would have been almost impossible that the driver didn’t know he had hit him.

Mr Millard has recently woken from his coma and is now recovering in hospital.

The driver responsible for the incident is still on the run.

According to the Herald Sun, Mr Millard said he doesn’t remember much of the incident – and was told he and a friend was walking home from a local footy game when Mr Millard slipped on the road before becoming unconscious.

When his mate went to get help – Mr Millard was struck by the vehicle.

“I’m lucky to be here, it could have been a lot worse,” he said.

Police would like to speak to anyone who drove through the area around that time and may have seen a pedestrian or anything suspicious.

Due to the long weekend and increased visitors in the area, police are investigating if the driver was possibly from another area of Victoria.
