Detectives have declared a crime scene behind a Helensvale business after a 19-year-old man sustained severe arm injuries.
According to preliminary investigations, the individual was standing in a car park on Sir John Overall Drive at 6.20pm when he sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, resulting in non-life threatening injuries.
He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, where detectives are present.
Anyone who may have seen the man in the parking lot or a white Nissan Qashqai hatchback in the neighbourhood at the time is urged to contact the police.
Additionally, investigators are requesting CCTV evidence and asking anybody with key dash cam footage to come forward.
Officers feel that there is no immediate threat to the public.
The investigation continues.
