£850,000 house explodes in Berkshire, leaving man with serious injuries

After an explosion in an £850,000 house left one man with significant injuries, a man was taken directly to the hospital.

The Upper Basildon, Berkshire, detached home was completely destroyed by the blaze.

The subsequent fire in the sizable home outside of Reading was fought by at least eight fire engines.

The house was reduced to a shell, with the roof completely demolished and much of the interior woodwork burned, according to drone footage taken earlier today.

Fortunately, firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby property, which was in danger as a result of the extremely dry weather.

Thames Valley Police said they do not believe the incident is suspicious.

A spokesman told MailOnline: ‘This was a suspected explosion which caused a fire at a residential property in Aldworth Road, Upper Basildon, to which we were called at 10.42pm.
