Man in Gqeberha stabs his girlfriend to death

Police in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, have arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of killing his girlfriend over the weekend with a knife.

According to the police report, the suspect attacked his girlfriend with a knife, and she fled to a neighbor’s home.

A community member attempted to assist the 31-year-old woman, but her irate boyfriend stabbed him in the arm, according to Captain Gerda Swart.

“The suspect pursued his girlfriend with a knife, and when she ran into a home on Corkwood Street in Tamboville, she was repeatedly stabbed.” The right arm of a community member who sought to assist was also stabbed.

“As the victim collapsed outside the residence, the suspect began stabbing her. She succumbed to her wounds and passed away at the spot,” Swart said.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday, but the motive for the murder has not yet been determined.

“He will soon appear before the Kariega magistrates’ court on allegations of murder and assault with intent to cause great bodily damage. The motive for the murder has not yet been determined.
