A suspect who is charged with the death of one university student and the attempted murder of another has been detained, according to police in Gqeberha.

What time and where was the shooting?

The two students were an unidentified 21-year-old woman who was shot in the abdomen and died, and 22-year-old Abongile Mgu.

Around 4:00 on April 2nd, the kids and a few other people were standing on a corner in the Central district.

Unknown man apparently made a “nuisance of himself” when he approached the group. Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the spokesperson, disclosed that there was a fight because the man refused to leave the group.

After leaving the group, the man came back a short while later brandishing a gun. He then started firing at the crowd. Then he bolted.

A motel in Cape Town was where the suspect was found.

The suspect was located at a hotel in Sea Point, Cape Town, according to Detective Constable Ridwaan Baaitjies, according to SAPS.

The local SAPS then detained him on July 20.

On Tuesday, July 26, the suspect is anticipated to show up in front of the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court.

According to TimesLIVE, he is accused of murder and an attempted murder.

A metro police officer has apparently been identified as the shooter who killed two individuals at the Katlehong Tavern on July 8, 2022, according to earlier reports.

Four armed men reportedly invaded the Mputlane Inn Tavern earlier this month, according to reports.

Six persons were shot, two of whom died at the spot and two of whom were brought to the hospital after they demanded a firearm and started firing at customers at random.

One suspect had been detained, according to the police, and was scheduled to appear before the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 25.

Colonel Dimakatso Sello, a police spokesperson, said police are currently looking into the situation and it’s unclear whether more arrests would be made.
