Man dies after he was hit by a car while changing a tyre on one of Melbourne’s busiest motorways

A man was killed after being hit by a car while changing a tyre on one of Melbourne’s busiest highways.

He had parked in the emergency lane of the Western Ring Road near Deer Park and was repairing his tyre when he was struck at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

He was transported to the hospital, but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that struck him, a 35-year-old man, was uninjured and rendered aid.

The man from Kings Park was apprehended and is now helping police with their investigation.

Western Ring Road lanes headed for Greensborough will be blocked for several hours, creating significant traffic delays.

To return to the Ring Road, motorists are asked to utilise the bypass, Robinsons Road, and Ballarat Road, and to prepare for longer travel times.
